Cataloochee Ski Area - North Carolina
Cataloochee Ski Area is conveniently located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, four miles off U.S. 19 above Maggie Valley, N.C.
Even when the winter weather seems too warm for skiing, Cataloochee's mile-high elevation provides fine conditions for making and keeping snow.
Many families have learned to ski on these gentle slopes. Cataloochee's PSIA-registered ski school teaches basics to novices or new techniques to experts. Telemark and snowboard instruction is also offered.
The Catt Trackers Program for ages 4 to 6 and the Catt Explorers Program for ages 7 to 12 are perfect for kids of all ability levels.
The lodge is comfortable, featuring a circular fireplace, home cooked meals, full service rental department and a sun-drenched deck overlooking the slopes.
Cataloochee Ski Area is located four miles off U.S. 19 above Maggie Valley, N.C., only 35 miles west of Asheville, 3 1/2 hours north of Atlanta and 2 1/2 hours from both the Knoxville and Greenville/Spartanburg areas with easy four lane access from each.
